RELATIONSHIP; AN ESSENTIAL INSTRUMENT FOR FULFILLING VISION
GRACE TONIC
WEEK 22: MAY 27TH, 2024
TOPIC: RELATIONSHIP; AN ESSENTIAL INSTRUMENT FOR FULFILLING VISION
TEXT: ACTS 16:40 (NIV)
After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house, where they met with the brothers and sisters and encouraged them. Then they left.
First impressions they say lasts long. You will recall that Paul and Silas came in contact with some women on the Sabbath day, one of which was Lydia from Thyatira. The Lord opened her heart to respond positively to Paul's message. This in turn led to the salvation of her entire household.
Obviously, the response of Lydia and her entire household to the message of salvation from Paul brought her entire household into a relationship with God and Paul's team. The return of Paul and Silas to the house of Lydia after they have been escorted out of the prison suggests that the relationship was still intact. This event should draw our attention to the relationships in our lives.
First is our relationship with God. The truth is, 'what strengthens relationship is communication '. Break in communication brings about gaps between parties involved in the relationship. How often do you service your relationship with God using the instrument of communication? Are you like Paul and Silas, who even in bondage and about midnight, were praying and singing hymns to God? (Vs 25)
And immediately, all the doors were opened, and everyone's bands were loosed...vs 26
Paul and Silas went into a time of fellowship with God communicating in prayers and songs, after which their chains were loosed and the prison doors flew open.
It is obvious that communication with God brings us into intimacy with Him and also brings us out of the prison, troubles, web of the devil, or any entanglement of life.
As you service your relationship with God, may you find your way out of any trouble or entanglement and the web of the devil in Jesus' name. (Amen)
...they went to Lydia's house... vs. 40b
Secondly is our relationship with others. The truth is that you can't live in isolation. You need people. While fulfilling your God's given vision, your attention must be drawn to newly established relationships and old relationships around you. They went to Lydia's house and there they found a conducive environment.
... where they met with the brothers and sisters...
You can't work it out alone. You need other people and the resources God has put in their hands. Lydia's house became a centre for Paul and Silas to meet with other brethren. Your vision needs resources in someone's hand before it can be actualized. May your path and that of your helpers meet in Jesus' name (Amen).
As you step out today, this week and beyond, pay attention to relationships around your life, harness, service them, and ensure you properly utilize them for your vision to be fulfilled.
May you not lack divine resources to fulfill your God's give vision in Jesus' name. (Amen)
